March 16, 2006 - All 12 editions (65 pages) are now online of the 327th's informal, humorous & often philosophical newspaper produced by David Silvette with the assistance of John Cornacchio. Editions of the newsletter cover the period from May 11, 1945 through September 1, 1945. Many individuals are mentioned in the newsletter. I have provided an index of all names. Steve Lay, son of Lt. Harold Lay, has provided a 10 page report of Rifle Training Qualifications and a list of "Relative Rank of Officers". These two documents provide perhaps the best lists of members of the battalion while in training May 1944 at Camp Swift, Texas. October 2005 - After Action Reports acquired from National Archives & Records Administration were added.
We have approximately 160 photos in the
original
Photo Gallery. Many of the men are still unidentified. We
hope that viewers will let us know if they recognize someone. If
you would like to have your photos from WWII or the
Occupation on the site, we'd love to include them.
Digitized photos can be emailed. You can also have your original
photos reproduced at places like Walgreen's while you are right
there. (You wouldn't want to let them out of your sight!) Then
the copies can be postal mailed to us for inclusion on the site.
Photo collections are now being added in their own galleries. We can also include any personal recollections, stories, or documents you'd like to contribute.
We are gathering information and photos for
tribute pages dedicated to individual members of the 327th
Engineers. We encourage everyone to do the same. Just
send an email if you'd like to
have a page dedicated to your loved one. We can then correspond
via phone or postal mail if necessary.
I have compiled a database of men who served in the 327th Engineer Combat Battalion who are/were also members of the 102nd Infantry Division Veterans Association. This includes last known addresses & phone numbers. I will not publish the contact information online. I will, however, provide the information privately to those who wish to contact old buddies. Many thanks to Hope Emerich and Carl Main of the 102nd Infantry Division Association for sharing their lists.
If you have suggestions, corrections or
questions about the site, please don't hesitate to contact me.
